In the early days there was a group of lads who loved to ride their bikes and enjoyed their rock and roll music with a passion. They’d go out strutting their drapes, leathers & crepes ... Not really looking for trouble but finding it none the less... In those days no one a reason for a ruck, rucks just happened.

In London it would be punks down the Kings road, and further out in the sticks, South London, Margate, Southend and Brighton it would be Mod's v Rockers. A few of us Bum Biters (you know who) , were there when Quadraphenia was made, we were in the lot fighting and brawling away, though sadly most of us was left on the cutting room floor! Elf, Mac, Johnny & Vince’s claim was being filmed in Blue Suede Shoes (also shot in Brighton) but their fame received the same fate... On the cutting room floor.. Groan!

Eventually Mac, Vince and Mark came up with the idea of forming the Bum Biters Club in 1979 and since then have never looked bake. The club has grown from strength to strength. In the beginning it was a lark that centred on our dares to pass a test of biting a bird’s bum.. Some times with disastrous results.. Boy do those high heels hurt when they hit you in the groin!!

We grew in to a Rock & Roll and drinking club and held many organised events in places such as Weymouth, Skegness, Caister, and Hemsby. In some of those places we still hold the award for downing a demijohn in the fastest time... (1 min 42 seconds thanks to Big Keith ..er ..hic ). We became so well known for our drinking prowess and keeping the bar open that landlords just chucked us the keys with instructions to lock up when we’re done.

We travelled on to the continent visiting places such as Italy, Switzerland, Spain and of course France. Our favourite mode of travel is on our bikes (many of us are too poor from our rock & roll drinking exploits to afford to run a car) which we are proud of.

Over the years the club has expanded past the golden shores of England to Canada, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Portugal, Tenerife, New Zealand, Australia, Holland, Germany and America. Such is the endearing influence of a mad bunch of guy’s in the Rock & Roll cirque.

As a club we have no politics, we simply love to party with one and all. We have many friends in many clubs whom we have a great respect for.. And we remain impartial no matter what.

Bum Biters can be found in Rock &Roll clubs/pubs or Biker Bars around the country. We also meet up at the Applegarth in Thornton Heath where Caddy Steve organises many Rock & Roll nights. We started the annual Bum Biters Boat Trip about 15 years ago and it is still running to this day. If you would like to know more about any of our events get in contact with us or sign our guest book
As they say... That's all folks!!!
